Is there an age restriction for the festival?

Each show and venue varies, as we programme a mix of podcast shows. Please check the individual venue’s guidance for the relevant age restrictions.

Is there food and drink on site?

Yes! On the weekend the epicentre of the festival is Barkers Pool where we host a range of local food and drink operators. Refreshments are also available within all participating venues.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

No. Personal alcohol is not permitted in licensed venues.

Can I bring a bag to the shows?

All venues operate bag checks and have professional security teams. Please avoid bringing large bags to speed up entry.

Are venues accessible?

Yes. All Crossed Wires partner venues, including City Hall and Sheffield Theatres, offer:

  • Step-free access
  • Accessible toilets
  • Assistance for those with mobility needs
  • Dedicated wheelchair spaces (bookable via the venue box office)

Can I bring an assistance dog?

Yes. All venues welcome accredited assistance dogs.

Is there captioning, BSL, or audio description?

Some events offer enhanced access features. These will be clearly listed on each event page.

Do carers receive free tickets?

City Hall and Sheffield Theatres offer free companion tickets for eligible customers. Please contact the venue box office.
