Are venues accessible?

Yes. All Crossed Wires partner venues, including City Hall and Sheffield Theatres, offer:

  • Step-free access
  • Accessible toilets
  • Assistance for those with mobility needs
  • Dedicated wheelchair spaces (bookable via the venue box office)

Can I bring an assistance dog?

Yes. All venues welcome accredited assistance dogs.

Is there captioning, BSL, or audio description?

Some events offer enhanced access features. These will be clearly listed on each event page.

Do carers receive free tickets?

City Hall and Sheffield Theatres offer free companion tickets for eligible customers. Please contact the venue box office. 

What time should I arrive?

Doors typically open 30–45 minutes before the show starts. Please check your ticket for exact times.

How long are live podcast shows?

Most shows run between 60 and 120 minutes, sometimes including a Q&A.

Is there food and drink on site?

Bars and refreshments are available at Sheffield City Hall, Sheffield Theatres, and our partner venues.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

No. Personal alcohol is not permitted in licensed venues.

Is photography or recording allowed?

Generally no, professional recording is restricted, and mobile-phone filming varies per show. Please follow announcements from venue staff and performers.

What security measures are in place?

All venues operate bag checks and have professional security teams (City Hall, Sheffield Theatres standards). Please avoid bringing large bags to speed up entry.

What happens if I’m running late?

Latecomers may be held until an appropriate point in the show, at the discretion of the venue.

What is the festival’s approach to safety and wellbeing?

We follow the policies of City Hall and Sheffield Theatres, including:

  • Emergency evacuation procedures
  • First aid and medical staff on site
  • Trained stewards
  • Clear safeguarding and audience conduct policies

Is there an age restriction for the festival?

All venues are located in Sheffield City Centre and accessible via bus, tram, and rail links.
